• Testing the PiDash in the Turbo Camaro

I bought a 7″ tablet mount that suction cups to the windshield. Wanted to see if this PiDash would work well in my Turbo Camaro. Because of the lack of depth I cannot get the PiDash exactly center mounted but thats ok. It’ll replace my gauges so all I need it to do is hold on and not fall off. Another issue is heat from direct sunlight. If its 100* or more outside, I doubt I’ll be driving this monster around as it just gets too hot around here without A/C. LOL.

Here’s a pic of the PiDash mounted. I had to pull over at the gas station and edit the gauge spacing since RPM was overlapped and I wanted the AFR text a little bigger. It held up well going over bumps here and there. Pretty stable.

  • Playing around with RaceRender 3

I found out about a piece of software that utilizes TunerStudio logs and can generate a heads-up type display in your videos. Remember that 60-120 pull I did in Mexico? Well , here’s something I threw together with that video (made on my cell phone) and a datalog. You’ll see that my USB GPS is having a hard time keeping up with whats going on. I’ll need a faster GPS. I had to manually edit the log file to sync it to the video. Its a little off but it shows what only 6# boost does with my setup and easing into it.

New video will be coming up with a NEW TUNE and 12# boost!!

  • Preparing for the next Turbo LS!

My current engine is fun and all but its kinda weak since it has Gen 3 rods, stock pistons.
I’ve been thinking of the next one to build so I bought some Mahle forged pistons for boost, file-fit rings and Eagle 4340 rods. I have a block and crank already along with some other parts. This one will see 20+ psi! Looking to make some STEAM!!

My rods came with a piece of bread, Wastegate spring and some RUM! I kid I kid..

  • Since we’re all on lockdown in Texas..

Filling in some small holes in the floorboard and adding Kilmat here and there.
Upping boost from 7 to 12.
    New springs installed.
Rear of intake modified for remote MAP sensor
    Motion Raceworks remote MAP mount.
    Intake removed.
    Putting her all back together!
    New Lakewood 70/30 struts
Original that came with the Camaro on the left. New strut on right.

  • Remote LS Tuning

If you have an aftermarket ECU in your LS, you’ve got to get a hold of Scott Clark @ RealTuners, LLC.

He’s the guy who remote’s into my laptop to tune my Turbo Camaro.
Its best you have some sort of mechanical knowledge/diagnosing knowledge though or have someone who does that way you can diagnose locally if there is an issue that needs to be looked at. For example, a boost leak, or verifying timing at the engine vs what your ECU is reporting.

He is very skilled at tuning, especially modified LS combinations with aftermarket ECUs.

Currently I’m at 7# boost to knock out any issues on my setup. Fixing to swap out springs to bump it up to 15#. Then next month I’m getting a LS engine with aftermarket internals and heads built for some real boost! Stay tuned!

At any rate, here’s a vid of my Camaro on a cold morning.
